Rika Denshi America now can offer our customers a reliable option for testing requirements over 150°C. HOT PIN® test probes with plungers plated that use our proprietary gold and palladium cobalt will allow our customers to test in environments up to 175°C.
This proprietary plating process eliminates the typical oxide formation that forms on the outside surfaces of the gold plating when temperature exceeds 150°C. This oxide forms a barrier between the plungers and the barrel and will increase CRES and reduce product yields. Our HOT PIN® test probes allow our customers to have consistent CRES testing and products yields while testing up to 175°C.
A typical 0.5mm pitch test probe with a 50 milliohm CRES average when used at temperatures under 150°C will have CRES values increase to a 320 milliohm average when used at 175°C . In comparison the same style HOT PIN® test probe will have a CRES of about 80 milliohms when tested at 175°C while still maintaining the same mechanical durability.
